An Ashfield company selling large-scale lighting solutions was recently acknowledged when it won top honours at the Chamber’s business awards.  Abacus Lighting designs, builds, installs and maintains lighting systems for roads, rail depots, airports and industrial premises, in addition to sports stadia.  In fact, the company recently took the Business of the Year accolade at the Chamber’s Nottinghamshire Business Awards.

In summary, working from concept to creation, including aftersales maintenance, Abacus Lighting’s specialist in-house teams work hard to ensure every project exceeds customer expectations.  It has dedicated and experienced teams, working in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, Asia and Oceania as well as in the UK.

Moreover, Managing Director Camilla Wigmore received the award from sponsor Mazars.  She said: “I’m very proud indeed to receive this on behalf of the company.  It’s a great accolade to obtain this award in our 40th year of Chamber membership and also since the company has been in existence for 60 years.  In addition, I thank you on behalf of everyone at Abacus.”

The company was one of 12 to win an award last month (Friday 15 September), as the Chamber celebrated the strength and successes of businesses across Nottinghamshire.  In order to qualify as a contender for the supreme accolade of Business of the Year, Abacus Lighting had already scooped the Excellence in International Trade Award.

Comment from the Chamber

Geoff Poyzer from North Midland Construction is the Chamber’s President who said: “The Chamber’s congratulations go to all of this year’s winners.  We had some really good entries and the judging process, as it is every year, was extremely tough but all the winning businesses thoroughly deserve their success.

“The standard of competition was extremely high, which clearly shows that, despite political and economic uncertainties, we have some real success stories of Nottinghamshire businesses doing very well.  Above all, each of the finalists deserve recognition for their success.

“Over the past 12 months, businesses in Nottinghamshire have been busy keeping calm and carrying on investing, innovating, exporting and growing.  These awards are testament to the quality of the businesses we have in this county and I applaud each and every one of them.”
