Parker Knoll, one of the biggest names in furniture, has become the latest leading business to select Ashfield and Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, as the location for a major manufacturing operation.

The company’s new 100,000 sq ft facility, a two-storey building comprising factory space, offices and warehousing, will be located at Castlewood Business Park, immediately adjacent to the A38 and junction 28 of the M1 motorway.

Parker Knoll’s furniture is hand-crafted in the UK, with a focus on high-quality, distinctive design and attention to detail. In recognition of its rigorous quality systems, the company has been awarded the BSI Kitemark – an internationally recognised symbol of quality and safety.

Parker Knoll will join a growing list of prestigious businesses that have set up manufacturing operations at Castlewood Business Park. Companies already located on the site include Bombardier, Midland Aerospace and Meridian Lightweight Technologies.

‘We are very pleased to be expanding our manufacturing facility with the move to Castlewood Business Park. This new site provides a fantastic new manufacturing base for the Parker Knoll brand, and we look forward to sitting alongside the high calibre of names that will also occupy the site.’

These and similar businesses have been attracted to Ashfield and Mansfield by the area’s compelling combination of a skilled manufacturing workforce, highly competitive costs and excellent transport connections.

‘Castlewood has continued to attract occupiers because this is one of the strongest locations for logistics and manufacturing in the East Midlands’, says James Richardson of Clowes Developments, the site’s developers.

And the property consultants representing Castlewood are equally upbeat:

‘The best part of one million square feet of space at Castlewood is now occupied by some very impressive names. What’s really encouraging is the fact that we are also taking to a number of other major occupiers about further development on the site’, says Tim Gilbertson of Fisher Hargreaves Proctor (FHP).
