The D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership has recently finalised its Strategic Economic Plan (SEP) for submission to Government. The SEP is a masterplan for economic regeneration in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in the forthcoming years; it defines the strategy for this region and will be used as a basis for bidding for government funding for economic growth.

Over the past few months, the Ashfield and Mansfield Regeneration Shared Service has actively engaged with partners across Nottinghamshire to support the development of this plan and to ensure that the priorities for economic development for Ashfield and Mansfield are recognised within the plan.

One of the key strategic themes in the SEP is “Infrastructure for Economic Growth”, which will facilitate the creation of new jobs and resilient transport networks to support business competitiveness and accessibility.

The key priority projects in the Ashfield and Mansfield area are focused on the town centres, unlocking strategic employment sites along the A617 Mansfield Ashfield Regeneration Route (MARR) and at Hucknall to transform growth prospects, alongside new housing at key sites. This includes sustainable travel measures focused on key corridors to create headroom for growth, pinch point improvements at key junctions and site access improvements.
