Now running as annual events, the Ashfield and Mansfield Jobs Fairs offer fantastic opportunities to meet with local jobseekers.  In fact, it’s also free to attend and everyone is welcome.  If you are struggling to recruit through conventional methods, then these Jobs Fairs may be exactly what you need.  The Mansfield Jobs Fair is on 15 September and the Ashfield Jobs Fair follows a week later on Friday 22 September.  So there’s an opportunity to have two bites at the cherry.

Why should recruiters attend?

Attending the Jobs Fairs will provide you with the following benefits:

  • Speedy recruitment – engaging in interviews on the day
  • Meeting jobseekers face-to-face
  • Cost-effectiveness
  • Collecting CVs
  • Promoting your business and your vacancies locally, directing jobseekers to your company website.

We are hoping for a good turnout on both days from a mixed audience of both employed and unemployed individuals.  Both Jobs Fairs have been widely promoted through local press, social media, colleges, your local MPs, local job clubs and the Jobcentre.  In addition, flyers have been distributed at health centres, libraries and community centres.

Guidance for applicants

Local people, both employed and unemployed, are invited to find out about:

  • job vacancies
  • new career pathways
  • apprenticeship opportunities
  • self-employment

In addition to local employers, a variety of support organisations will also be in attendance.  These will be on hand to provide advice and guidance to potential applicants to help ensure they make the right choice for their future.  Local people are advised to bring along their CVs and dress to impress in their search for a job.

Further information

This year the Ashfield Jobs Fair is supported by the MP for Ashfield and Eastwood, Gloria De Piero, working in partnership with Ashfield District Council, Vision West Nottinghamshire College and the Department for Work & Pensions.

While the Mansfield Jobs Fair has been jointly organised between Mansfield District Council, Vision West Nottinghamshire College and the Department for Work & Pensions.  Furthermore, it is supported by the MP for Mansfield, Ben Bradley.   The Mansfield Jobs Fair is hosted at Mansfield Library on 15 September.  A week later, on Friday 22 September, the Ashfield Jobs Fair will take place at the Festival Hall in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

Running from 10am to 2pm, jobseekers are invited to drop in at a time convenient to them.  So, if you are looking to recruit, this may prove an invaluable opportunity to meet local job-ready individuals and even get some signed up on the day.

Should you wish to have a stand on either day, or both, then please contact Margaret Harvey on 01623 463426.  If you’re still unsure and need a little more information, Margaret will also be able to help with any queries that you may have.
