Better broadband for Nottinghamshire

Better Broadband for Nottinghamshire is a multi-million pound partnership between Nottinghamshire County Council and a range of funding partners including Nottinghamshire District Authorities, Nottingham City Council, BT, Central Government and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which is set to transform broadband speeds across Nottinghamshire.

As a result of the programme, 95% of Nottinghamshire’s premises are expected to be able to access a fibre network, capable of delivering superfast broadband, by March 2016. Work is in hand to extend the coverage even further through an additional phase of works.

Exploring the potential for your business:

If you use a standard ADSL service, choosing to upgrade it to fibre broadband could cut your costs, help you be more efficient and open doors to new opportunities and new ways of connecting customers. Not only is fibre far more reliable than the copper it replaces, the enhanced speeds can support your business far better as it develops and grows.

Opportunities include:

  • Video conferencing – meet with suppliers and customers worldwide
  • Cut travel and costs – work more efficiently and effectively
  • Cloud computing – only pay for what you use
  • Faster file transfer – send and receive large files – fast.
  • Online data storage – ditch the big black boxes
  • Shared workspaces – online collaboration made easy
  • Hosted application – cut software licensing costs
  • New Market opportunities – sell online and expand your business
  • Efficient homeworking – more flexibility for your people.

In order for you to benefit from fibre broadband’ you need to act. Installing the fibre cabinets is only half the story and the upgrade to ‘fibre’ isn’t an automatic process. To find out if you are able to access ‘fibre’ please visit the dedicated webpage below:
