Work is now well underway on the development site of what will become the first Council homes to be built in Ashfield for almost 30 years.

Ashfield District Council is working in partnership with contractor Wilmott Dixon to build brand-new apartments for the over 60’s on Brook Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield. A total of 22 new apartments and three bungalows will be built.

Cllr. Chris Baron, Leader of Ashfield District Council, said “This development has been specifically designed for people aged 60 plus and the apartments will be full of features which will enable people to continue to live independently as they get older.”

He added that the apartments would be highly energy efficient with a range of energy-saving features.

Stuart Belfield, Operations Director of Willmott Dixon, said: “We are pleased to be involved with Ashfield District Council’s inaugural scheme. We are looking forward to completing a quality product that the whole community can be proud of.  We are also looking to strengthen our partnership with Ashfield District Council as we work together to realise their future aspirations”.
