Mansfield Learning Partnership Career Champions

The Mansfield Learning Partnership has been working with local businesses for a number of years to give young people the opportunity to improve their skills and raise aspirations. Working with A-Star Media Ltd, The Chad and Mansfield 2020 the MLP has created ‘Career Champions’.

By becoming a Career Champion a business will be taking a pledge to commit to undertaking at least one activity each academic year to support the employability skills of students within the Mansfield Learning Partnership.

There are opportunities mentoring, work experience, sponsorship, top tips, master classes and motivational talks. Businesses within the area have been taking part in these events to help students develop their skills and gain experience.

Here are some of the local businesses who have taken part in 2013/14:

  • ARG (Mansfield) – A family-run business specialising in building & refurbishment services
  • Dale Mansfield ltd – Dale (Mansfield) Ltd have been established since 1971 and are leaders in the field of precision hydraulic equipment and small/lot production machining
  • Tricia Mapletoft – Tricia Mapletoft is a successful hairdresser in Mansfield who also organises Miss Mansfield and Ashfield

Visit Mansfield 2020’s website for a full list of Career Champions. If you’re looking to hire a young person as an apprentice for your business could be eligible for a £1,500 grant.

The schemes Aim Higher and Graduates into Enterprise are able to help you find undergraduates and graduates respectfully to help develop your business and the skills of the young people hired.
