Entrepreneurs Get on Board at Event in Town Centre

April 9, 2014 9:46 am

Scores of budding business-men and women in Mansfield have been finding out about how they can become their own boss.

Over 150 people called in to find out more about setting up their own business at a special entrepreneur event held in Mansfield town centre.  Mansfield 2020, the award-winning business group, worked in partnership with NatWest Bank to host the session over three days.  The event was supported by a key support network that included Stopford Associates, Ashfield and Mansfield District Council, Vision Entrepreneur, NBV, FSB, Prince’s trust and The Hive.

Event partner Ken Lawson, Director of business bank for NatWest, launched the event at the Mansfield 2020 breakfast meeting on Thursday where he delivered an inspirational presentation to the local business community by sharing a success story that made the group recognise the importance of partnerships working together and the powerful effect of what one business idea can have on our local economy.

Ken said: “NatWest are keen to support the local economy. We recognise the need to guide people to the right resources. This event played a critical role in encouraging and guiding the next generation of entrepreneurs from idea to success.”

Operations Manager for Mansfield 2020, Caroline Cox, added: “Recently David Cameron was quoted stating entrepreneurs were the ‘only strategy’ left for growth.  2020 has always been here to help drive the local economy forward. We recognise and understand small business and enterprise plays a key role which is why it is important to work in partnership with local organisations that can provide free support.  The event really was a hub for any entrepreneur to get started, again demonstrating that partnerships working together with one objective of ‘growth’ can make anything possible.”

The organisations that supported the event saw over 50 people per day. Each person needed specific guidance on various aspects of business to help them get started.  The supporters of the event have a proven track record for helping entrepreneurs establish themselves and just as important – continuously nurture, guide and grow their local business.
