Ingenuity: Building a more entrepreneurial firm

18 July, 7:45 am - 9:30 am

Ingenuity KnowledgeXchange Breakfast Event

What exactly is an entrepreneurial organisation? We all know what an organisation is and have some idea of what an entrepreneur is but what makes an entrepreneurial organisation?  In fact, our researchers have identified enterprises, large and small, that are able to innovate consistently from within, not just as a reaction to external factors.  Indeed we will demonstrate a diagnostic tool that allows organisations to assess their entrepreneurial capabilities and, most importantly, suggest alternative strategies to improve these vital competencies.

Our entrepreneurial speakers

hannah2Dr Hannah Noke
Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Nottingham University Business School

Hannah’s research interests and publications all relate to innovation.  These cover the ‘steady state’ innovation process, strategic renewal through innovation in SMEs and growing discontinuous innovation research. Hannah has taught both undergraduates and postgraduates.  Moreover, subjects include operations management, new product development, innovation management and new venture creation.

paulPaul Kirkham

Paul Kirkham is a researcher and writer in the field of entrepreneurial creativity.  Furthermore he is the co-deviser of the Ingenuity problem-solving process taught through The Haydn Green Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. State Aid

This event is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020 through the Enabling Innovation Programme.  Indeed, this event is classed as State Aid to participating businesses, valued at £100.  However, it is delivered completely free of charge to participants.

The ‘Shop Window’

This is your chance to take the floor to briefly present on something you are looking for help with.

From the University? If you have a business-facing project or want to work with local SME businesses through your research, this is your opportunity to contact business owners.   After all, our network members are already interested in what happens at the University.  So they may be interested in helping with your initiative.

From a business? Sorry, but the Shop Window isn’t the time for a “60 second pitch”.  Feedback from our network members tells us our businesses want something different.  But it is your opportunity to do some research of your own.  In fact, you could  request volunteers for new product or service trials or ask if anyone can recommend difficult-to-find suppliers.  Equally you could simply share some news that the audience might not find out about otherwise.

If you would like to participate in the Shop Window just drop us a line.
