NTU: Enabling innovation – innovation and outsourcing

In summary, local food and drink Small to Medium organisations (SMEs) from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire are invited to get involved with the new Enabling Innovation programme.  As a result of the Enabling Innovation programme, Nottingham Trent University’s Food and Drink Innovation hub invites you to a series of masterclasses at the Brackenhurst campus.  With this in mind, why not join us at the end of September for our third two-day masterclass?

Innovation & Outsourcing

Day 1 – 29th September – innovation topics:

  • What the food trends are and how to use them to deliver awesome products
  • How to develop a successful new product
  • Top tips on how to develop effective packaging
  • How to recoup your investment in NPD vs tax
  • Creating a successful ongoing NPD programme

Day 2 – 30th September – outsourcing topics:

  • Contract packer or in-house? Key decision-making criteria
  • How to choose a contract packer, and what to negotiate on
  • How to establish your own factory, key things to think about
  • Requirements of Salsa
  • Upgrading to BRC
  • Intellectual property protection

Day 1 – Innovation

Day 2 – Production

  • 10.00  Welcome and recap from yesterday
  • 10.15   Contract packer or in house – key decision making criteria – Julie Waddell, Little Food Company
  • 11.15    How to choose a contract packer
  • 12.00  Create your own factory – things to consider
  • 13.00  LUNCH
  • 14.00  Salsa and BRC
  • 15.00  Intellectual property
  • 16.00  Bringing it all together – planning production

While this event is free to attend, attendees must register in advance. In order to attend this event you must be eligible for support from the Enabling Innovation Programme, supporting SMEs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.Since this event is free to attend, it’s bound to be popular.  So don’t delay, register today.  Of course, if you would like any further information about this event before booking your place, please email the Enabling Innovation team.

In short, Enabling Innovation is a three-year collaboration between Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham, and the University of Derby supporting SMEs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to innovate. Moreover, as it is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), support is mostly free or at least heavily subsidised.
