EMCC: Quarterly Economic Survey – Business Lunch

21 July, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Chamber Logo

New for 2017, these Business Lunch events help you keep your finger on the pulse as the Chamber publicly unveils the latest intelligence from its Quarterly Economic Survey.  The QES is the largest survey of its kind in the UK.  Furthermore, it is acknowledged as a respected barometer of business confidence across the region.

Expert speakers

Prominent guests are invited to speak, providing an invaluable insight as to how the results from the Quarterly Economic Survey should be interpreted.  This will cover both current and future analysis, from a planning and investment perspective.  This meeting is hosted by Scott Knowles, the Chamber’s Chief Executive.  Moreover, the event will provide authoritative commentary about what the latest feedback from the Quarterly Economic Survey tells us.

Why attend?

This event has been designed with a broad cross-section of business-leaders in mind.  As a result, this represents an informal and social way of ensuring that you and your organisation are kept fully up-to-date on the latest developments in a volatile and evolving environment.

Who should attend?

Business-owners, directors and professionals with a vested interest in both local and regional jobs, growth and economic vitality.  This event provides the opportunity to find out what is happening locally, regionally and nationally against a backdrop of ongoing uncertainty.  Certain factors are at play here, including Brexit, devolution, and the likelihood of rising rates of inflation during 2017.  Your input into these discussions is invaluable to both the Chamber and Westminster alike.

What’s on offer?

Firstly an address from our guest-speaker, Toby Perkins MP (Chesterfield).  He will provide his political perspective following an inconclusive General Election, which merely added to the climate of ongoing uncertainty.  An informal discussion will then take place over lunch.

This event focuses on a broad range of aspects affecting current operating conditions, as well as examining the ramifications of the recent General Election.  We will also examine the localised implications of triggering of Article 50, given that negotiations have now started as the UK prepares to leave the European Union.  However, the Chamber also wants to ensure that the understandable preoccupation with Brexit does not obscure other day-to-day issues.  As these can also inhibit firms from investing and growing their business.

Further information and registration

This event is open not only to Chamber members but also to non-members.  Members are charged at £22+VAT each, whereas non-members are charged at £30+VAT each.  Reserve your place online.  Payment can be made at the time of booking.  Alternatively, an invoice will accompany the confirmation.  Please remember to specify your preferred option when registering.

Registration and pre-lunch drinks are available from noon, followed by a two-course lunch at 12.25pm.  For any further queries, please contact the Policy Team on 01246 212533.
