One of the main reasons why new and recently established businesses struggle during their first year is because they don’t take advantage of the professional business support available to them.

To help entrepreneurs through this difficult period and encourage more new businesses in Ashfield and Mansfield, a number of local organisations are working together to host a free advice day, which will provide expert advice, practical information and workshops on starting out in business and encouraging growth.

On the day there will be a free business advice fair, which will bring together the variety of support available in the area and will include organisations such as Stopford Associates, Invest Ashfield & Mansfield, Vision Entrepreneur, NBV, The Prince’s Trust, eBusiness Club, Hopkins Solicitors, The Hive and NatWest.

The fair will allow local people to drop in any time during the day between 10am and 4pm and have an informal chat with the business experts and find out more about what support is available to them.  It will cover key areas such as business planning, commercial law, raising finance, finding premises, searching for grants, marketing and much more.

Alongside the advice fair, there will be a number of short workshops running throughout the day which focus on a specific area related to starting a business including how to develop a successful product idea, starting your business banking and the legal to do list in starting a business. As places are limited on the workshops, booking is required.

The purpose of the advice day is to make local entrepreneurs aware of the support available to them and to provide them with the knowledge they need to successfully get their business up and running or to grow their current business.

Brian Stopford, Director at Stopford Associates, said: “It is vital for new businesses or anyone considering starting a business to receive professional business advice in a number of key areas to encourage growth and succeed.  We are delighted to be hosting this free event with a number of local organisations and believe it will provide us with the fantastic opportunity to use our experience and skills to support entrepreneurs in the area. I would strongly encourage anyone to come along to what promises to be a great day”.
