The Prince’s Trust is set to launch two new programmes for 16–25 year olds to help get them prepared for work in industry: ‘Get Started’ and ‘Get Into’

Get Started are short 5 day courses themed around sport, art, music and drama and are designed to boost the confidence and self-esteem of young people who are not yet ‘work ready’. Whereas Get Into are 2-6 week vocational courses in a specific industry sector such as retail, construction, NHS and logistics for ‘work ready’ young people.

To apply, candidates don’t need to have the sector specific skills or qualifications but they have to have the motivation and confidence needed to function in industry, in a work environment.

There is a 5 day Get Started Football course with Nottingham Forest coming up at the end of May and where 16 – 25 year olds can gain a JFL (Junior Football Leader) Award, a FA First Aid Certificate, and get 3 months progression support after the programme. There are often lots of voluntary coaching opportunities with Nottingham Forest after completion of the programme and potential for further funding to get them the FA Level one qualification.

There is also a 4 week Get into Retail with Asda programme at the end of May. There are 16 places at stake and the participating stores are Hyson Green, Arnold and Langley Mill, with an excellent chance of employment in the retail industry for people who successfully complete (and perform well on) the programme.

There are also many more industry programmes planned for the future leading all the way into next year.  If you are interested in any of the above or would like to know more about ‘Get Started’, ‘Get Into’ or the Prince’s Trust, please contact Kristian Hirscher.
