Local businesses invited to sneak preview of landmark eco-building

THIRTY fast-moving business people will be the first to set foot inside Mansfield’s prestigious new town centre gateway building in a series of tours being organised for the flagship regeneration project: Queen’s Place.

The tours, on Thursday 17 October, will give the proactive few a sneak preview of the 2.4m iconic eco-building, Queen’s Place, ahead of its completion and opening in November.  The tours are open to all business people, with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The hourly tours run between 10am and 2pm and take around 45 minutes.

People will be able to view Queen’s Place from top to bottom, including the 294sqm ground-floor retail space and all six offices; seeing how eco-building techniques and modern architecture have created the most energy efficient and high-tech commercial building in the town centre.

Queen’s Place is equipped with some of the most efficient insulation materials, a sustainable air conditioning system, low energy lighting, solar panels and a green roof. With an A rating for its energy performance and an expected excellent rating from the building industry’s green architecture scheme, BREEAM, Queen’s Place will be the greenest place to work in Mansfield town centre.

Located on Queen Street Place, next to Mansfield’s state-of-the-art bus station, the building’s distinctive architecture and new outdoor space create a stunning new gateway into the town centre. It is the first new commercial development to be built in the town centre in more than a decade; opening up two retail opportunities and six offices.

Cllr Kate Allsop, Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration at Mansfield District Council, said: “We expect the area’s most ambitious companies will want to make Queen’s Place their home. For a really competitive rent they’ll gain all the kudos associated with being based in an iconic eco-building in a prime spot. And with a footfall of around 13,000, Queen’s Place has more passing traffic than East Midlands Airport. That’s a compelling opportunity to any retailer.”

The building is due for completion mid-November and Mansfield District Council, which owns and runs Queen’s Place, will open the building at a special event on Sunday, 17 November.

To book a place on the tour, contact Cristina Chapman on 07801 944948 by Monday October 14th or email cristina@threeseas.co.uk.  Call Giles Davis on 0115 924 3243 for more information about the office and retail opportunities.
