Mansfield BID helps town centre companies save money on energy bills

 I love Mansfield

Businesses in Mansfield town centre are already seeing their energy bills being reduced thanks to a new initiative from Mansfield Business Improvement District (BID).

The BID has teamed up with BCR Associates, experts in reducing business costs, to provide a service that looks at how companies can cut their electricity and gas bills.  Mansfield Building Society is one of the first to take advantage of the scheme and has seen it identify savings just under £5,000 against their electricity renewal quote.  The building society has also been able to identify the potential to reduce gas bills by £445 (25%).

Sarah Nelson, BID Manager, said: “Being part of the BID has already seen many businesses benefit and this is yet another example of the BID being able to provide value to levy payers.  The cost reduction scheme is already paying dividends for businesses large and small, and we’re delighted that we have been able to help the Mansfield Building Society save such an amount of money.”

An advisor from BCR will visit levy payers to introduce the scheme, together with its benefits, and demonstrate how bills can be cut. The process takes around 10 minutes and there is no obligation to sign up.  Mike Taylor, Sales and Marketing Manager at the building society, said: “In this current climate we all need to look at costs and how budgets are spent. The BID has delivered a service to town centre businesses that directly reduces costs.”

Jill Brown, from BCR Associates, has been meeting with a number of companies in the town centre. She said: “At a time when ever more focus is cost, we can help BID businesses reduce expenditure. We’re independent, transparent and aim to get results, as can be seen with the Mansfield Building Society.”
