Memories are made of this…

Calling all businesses! Would you like to play a part in ensuring Mansfield’s impressive industrial past is preserved forever? Would you like to let future generations know what the world of work was like in years gone by?

Museum entrance

If your employees would like to be involved in celebrating our industrial heritage, Mansfield Museum would love to meet them.  To make the meeting nice and informal, the good folks at Leeming Street have arranged a series of Memory Days for anyone interested in our industrial heritage. On each of them, you can drop in for as long or as little as suits you. Over tea and biscuits there’ll be a chance to catch up with old work colleagues (and maybe meet a few new ones). You can share memories and stories and perhaps look at any photos or memorabilia you care to bring along. The Museum will also be dusting down some of their own items that might remind you of your earlier working life.

By coming along you will be helping set up the Museum’s new Industrial Gallery, all about our town’s working past. There will be opportunities to volunteer to help in lots of practical, enjoyable ways; to lend or donate photos or objects – even to record your favourite memories to be enjoyed by visitors to the new gallery.  These days are no-pressure, friendly affairs which, no matter what job you did, in whatever industry, will make you realise how important your part in your local community’s past has been. Don’t be shy! Take yourself down to Mansfield Museum on any of the following dates. You’re sure of a warm welcome.
