Work clubs to boost confidence and skills in 16 – 21 year olds and help get them into employment have been set up in Ashfield and Mansfield.

Currently Nottinghamshire County Council has 9 work clubs situated around the county in public libraries.  There are 3 in the Mansfield /Ashfield area:

Mansfield – every Wednesday 10 – 12 noon

Hucknall – every Thursday 3.30pm – 5.30pm

Kirkby – every Friday 10 – 12 noon.

The work clubs are open to all on a drop in basis, and offer support with job searches, applications, interview techniques, CV’s, letter writing,  etc, etc.  There are laptops available, and lots of information for people to access and take away.  There are also guest speakers and bespoke sessions at the work clubs, where the focus of entire sessions are on specific topics, which can include the afore-mentioned, but also additional subjects like – transferable skills, labour market information, confidence building.

There are also opportunities when employers visits.   This is not necessarily where an employer has vacancies, but is happy to discuss aspects such as:

  • The skills they are looking for
  • Information regarding  their organisation
  • Their application process
  • What they would expect at an interview
  • Vacancy details if / when they occur

If you know anybody that would be interested or would like to hear more about these workshops, please email for more information.
