EMCC: Expo and Meet the Buyer

This event is free to attend for Chamber members and £20 for non-members.  In short, this event is designed to maximise business opportunities for companies across the East Midlands.  In addition, it provides the opportunity to showcases some of the fantastic services and products provided by local companies.  Discounts and offers will be available on the day.  An ideal opportunity to meet some regional public sector organisations on a one-to-one basis to discuss current business opportunities.

Exhibition stand spaces are available for members and non-members and the event also includes a variety of masterclass sessions.  Find out more.

Meet the Buyer at RVE 2017

RVE is short for Rail Vehicles and Enhancements.  The only single-theme event aimed at rail vehicle engineering for refurbishment, maintenance and enhancements.  The show is now entering its sixth successive year.  Furthermore, RVE 2017 promises to be bigger, better and broader.  Not only does it benefit from a new, much larger, venue but also expanded exhibition and conference.  Here, visitors can hear from leading figures in the rail industry.  Find out more.

Following last year’s success, the Department for International Trade is once again providing Meet the Buyer sessions for suppliers attending this year’s RVE event.  With six international buyers signed up, this is an excellent opportunity for you to meet directly with buyers from major international companies.

Siemens, Alstom, Hitachi, MTR Tech (Sweden), SBB (Switzerland) and Eurostar will all be in attendance.  Find out more about these buyers’ requirements.

Interested?  Then don’t delay.  Simply submit your company details, indicating which buyers you would like to meet.  You will then receive an email within 48 hours.  This will detail how to complete a short online application form for each of the buyers you have selected to meet.  Based on the information you have provided, the buyers will then decide if they would like to book an appointment with you.  You are therefore advised to spend some time to develop bespoke offers for each buyer.

Please note, the deadline for supplier applications to be submitted is Friday 25 August 2017.

Medica

Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) is inviting East Midlands healthcare businesses to join a trade mission to the MEDICA trade fair in Germany in November.  Based at East Midlands Chamber, EEN has developed a tailored programme to help companies make the most of their visit to MEDICA.

The mission will incorporate a business matchmaking event where delegates attend meetings with like-minded potential business partners.  This provides them with the opportunity to showcase their business offering to selected companies.  Matchmaking events have historically proved extremely successful at MEDICA, with over 300 participants from around 30 countries and more than 1,000 meetings in recent years.  Furthermore, 96% of exhibitors have expressed extreme satisfaction with the business they achieved and the contacts they made at last year’s edition.

In addition, businesses joining the EEN delegation will benefit from an exclusive 50% discount on the entry cost to the MEDICA matchmaking event.  Jan Immel, International Programmes Manager, said: “The healthcare sector is prominent in the region and we look forward to working with those businesses that are ready to internationalise.”  Find out more.

Rail consultation

Government is currently running a consultation on the future of the rail franchise in the East Midlands.  Views are sought in order to ensure the new franchise delivers the best railway for passengers, communities and businesses alike.

This consultation will:

  • explain the planned process and timescales for awarding the rail franchise
  • provide information about the current franchise services and aims for the new franchise
  • seek your views on all aspects of the rail service to ensure the new franchise delivers the best possible railway for passengers, communities and businesses.

To support the online consultation, various public consultation events are also being held.  Locations include Derby on 31 August, Nottingham on 7 September and Sheffield on 27 September.  Find out more.
