Invest Ashfield & Mansfield - The area for growth

In Ashfield and Mansfield we are passionate both about learning new skills and sharing that knowledge more widely.  In order to do this, we regularly refer businesses to our events calendar, which we keep populated with events in and around the local area.  These aren’t just our events but also include others targeted specifically at businesses.

July events

So far, so good

July, so far, has proved to be a busy month, with regular networking opportunities and various NBV events.  However, that’s not to say that there isn’t anything else on the horizon.  Far from it, as July now seems even busier than ever.

Video marketing

A free, full-day event on the powerful promotion method of video marketing takes place on 19 July, organised by the Ebusinessclub.  This will cover using video both on your website and on your social media channels.  After all, using video is a sure-fire way to obtain impressive results.

Skills Local

On 20 and 21 of July, two events are being held in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire respectively.  These will tell you all about the new D2N2 funded programme: Skills Local.  Running as breakfast events in Nottingham and Derby, you will learn about the new funded training opportunities available to businesses of all sizes.

Create Expo 17

Furthermore, the third Create Expo at Vision West Nottinghamshire College, also on 20 July, provides a great learning opportunity.  This event brings together 10 amazing guest speakers over one unique day.  The agenda features talks by VFX and 3D industry experts and concept and graphic specialists.  In addition, there will be a whole host of other design-related talks and demonstrations.  Read more.

And finally…

Later in the month, on 21 July, there’s an event around eradicating modern slavery and employers’ responsibilities.  Also, on the same day, the Chamber is hosting a lunch event presenting the inside track on the results of their latest Quarterly Economic Survey.  The next week on two consecutive days, 25 and 26, is an event organised through NTU’s Enabling Innovation programme around websites for SMEs.  Participants will learn how to set up, configure, manage and enhance a small business website.

Other events of note include the D2N2 annual conference and a global business communication workshop, both on 26 July.  On the other hand, 2020’s regular business breakfast takes place at the end of the month on 27 July and then takes a break until September.

August events

In comparison, August promises to be a much quieter month.  With no 2020 meeting scheduled, there is still the regular networking opportunity afforded through Mansfield Means Business, which meets at the I-Centre on 8 August.  Later in the month, on 16, is the NTU’s Enabling Innovation programme’s Insight Breakfast at Vision West Nottinghamshire College’s University Centre.  This month’s insight breakfast session is entitled Futurist, providing participants with an innovative look at where their business could go.

Further into the future

Under the Midlands Engine moniker, a number of market visits are planned across a range of products, sectors and geographies.  These are specifically to help companies export and develop interenational trade links.  Sectors covered include rail, food and drink, healthcare and industry.  In total, six market visits are planned for 2017/8, forming the core of the Midlands Engine programme.  Moreover, each market visit focuses on the region’s key target markets and sectors of strength.   In brief, the Midlands Engine initiative aims to boost economic growth across the Midlands, including through enhanced trade and investment.  Find out more.

Whilst this represents a snapshot of what has been listed on our events calendar to date, we are constantly adding new events so remember to check back regularly.  We also post onto various social media platforms about upcoming events, so that’s another way you can keep up-to-date.  We use Facebook, GooglePlus, LinkedIn and Twitter; it would be great to see you there.
