Mansfield-based fire, security and communications specialists TIS have recorded the best year in their 65-year history, with sales revenues and profits at an all-time high.

The company, which employs 140 staff at its headquarters on Oakham Business Park, generated revenues of £13.186m in the period to 31 December 2015 an increase of 22% on the previous year. Profit before tax also increased by a massive 58%.

Over the past 12 months, TIS has appointed 20 new members of staff across all levels of the business and has recruited 8 apprentices. A further 20 new jobs are set to be created over the coming months, which will enable the company to cope with the increased demand from its broad client base, which ranges from industry to The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and local authorities.

Much of its current success can be attributed to the introduction of an innovative new business strategy, designed to drive growth over a five-year period. Major developments have included a rebrand and name change for the business, a company restructure to match business needs to output, a change in culture and a new ethos of continuous improvement, along with continued investment in the business to generate profit.

TIS is renowned throughout the industry for its commitment to training and continuing education and every member of staff is encouraged to fulfil their potential by taking extra training and CPD wherever possible. It also operates a successful apprenticeship recruitment programme. This enables the business to attract new talent to its team and retain the best people.

The company has exciting plans for the future and has set itself the ambitious target of achieving sales in excess of £20 million by 2018. More job opportunities are set to be created for local people as the company gears up for the next stage of growth.

It is currently investing £300,000 in a new ERP system, which brings together the separate elements of the business processes designed to help improve the clients experience.

Commenting on the company’s continued growth, joint managing director James Twigg, said:

“Our results over the past 12 months are absolutely tremendous and are testament to the work that has been put in by the whole team for a number of years now.

“Our core philosophy is one of continuous innovation and improvement and we continue to push the boundaries in order to achieve our objectives and remain ahead of the competition.

“We intend to exploit the competitive advantage that our unique position in the market gives us, with the ultimate aim of being the number one in what we do – provide integrated security and communications solutions.”
