Job seekers in Mansfield and Kirkby are being offered the opportunity to learn how best to present themselves at interviews to increase the likelihood of landing that all important job.  ‘Dress to impress’ is a new two-hour session initially available for job seekers at Nottinghamshire County Council’s Mansfield and Kirkby Work Clubs this week.

The session includes a range of practical advice and tips to help people make the most of every job interview including:

  • what to wear at an interview to look your best
  • confidence building techniques to reduce nerves
  • interview etiquette including how to meet and greet people.

The session will be available on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 27 November, 10am to 12 noon – Mansfield Library, Four Seasons Centre, West Gate, Mansfield
  • Friday 29 November, 10am to 12 noon – Kirkby Library, Ashfield Precinct, Kirkby-in-Ashfield

Councillor Diana Meale, Chair of the County Council’s Economic Development Committee said: “Interviews can be a nerve-racking experience at any time, but especially when you’re out of work looking for a job.  With just seconds to make the right impression to potential employers, our training and advice session offers job seekers the inside track to boost their chances to land the job they want.”

Job seekers interested in attending the session just need to turn up promptly – no advance booking is needed.  Nottinghamshire County Council support weekly Work Clubs across the county in local libraries at Arnold, Hucknall, Kirkby, Newark, Mansfield, Retford, West Bridgford and Worksop.  Work Clubs are open to anyone looking for work and are voluntary to attend. The clubs give people the chance to meet others looking for work, build new contacts, share job hunting experiences and get advice on job searches, applications, interview techniques, CVs and even volunteering opportunities.  For further information on Nottinghamshire County Council’s Work Clubs, call Denise Stephenson on 07775 588 756 or visit www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/workclubs
