Women take first step towards business success

August 9, 2013 2:48 pm

A group of enterprising women recently completed the first in a series of workshops aimed at helping them build their confidence to consider taking their business ideas forward.

WomenWhoDoworkshops

The free, expert support on offer is available to all women across Ashfield & Mansfield and provides guidance and support to build and develop enterprise skills and know-how.  A team of business mentors from Step Ahead is delivering the workshops, which are designed to help women recognise the skills and qualities they already have, understand how to develop and build a clear business vision and overcome challenges along the way.

Feedback from the participants of the Women Who Do workshops was excellent with one commenting that the workshops had given them a clearer idea on what they needed to work on in order to put their ideas into action. Another said the workshops were very inspirational and they would like to take part in further sessions.  The group will now move on to the next level of support and take advantage of the one-to-one mentoring on offer through the programme which is designed to guide and nurture ideas and help to turn them into concrete plans.  The next workshops are on 9, 16 and 23 September from 9.30am to 2.30pm. People who have not already been involved can still sign up to take part.

Cllr Kate Allsop, Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration at Mansfield District Council, said: “The positive feedback from the first workshop proves there is a great need for support of this kind for women in the two Districts. The programme is such a wonderful opportunity for women and I would encourage anyone who thinks they would benefit to contact the Council to find out more.”

Cllr Warren Nuttall, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration at Ashfield District Council, said: “Following on from the success of the first series of workshops, I am eager to see the outcome of the one-to-one sessions and look forward to some exciting new business ventures.”

The Women Who Do Programme is managed by the Ashfield & Mansfield Shared Regeneration Service and financed through the European Regional Development Fund.
