Citizens’ Panel Summit Event

Want to know more about the Council? Fancy getting involved in giving your views on local issues affecting the District?

Why not get involved and join us at our next Citizens’ Panel event which is scheduled for February 3rd, 2016?

The event is open to those with an interest in local affairs and will be held in the Council Chamber, Ashfield District Council Offices, Urban Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield on 3rd February, 2016, 6pm to 8pm. Parking will be available at the front of the council office.

At the Citizens’ Panel we extend a welcome to the business community as well as all interested residents.

The agenda for this event will look at the way local councils have been dealing with financially challenging times and, in particular, Ashfield District Council’s budget strategy for the financial year 2016/17.

February’s meeting will include an explanation the Council’s up to date financial position, and how the Council plans to meet the challenges of the forthcoming financial year.

At the session, the following will be covered:

  • Local Government Finance – the national position
  • What the Government’s Spending Review means for Ashfield
  • Updates on the Business Rates system, and possible future changes
  • An update on the free garden waste scheme

The Council’s Deputy Chief Executive, Dave Greenwood will outline the key points of all the recent announcements, and there will be an opportunity to comment on our current plans and make suggestions for future efficiency improvements.
