This breakfast event is for local Small and Medium Sized (SME) construction contractors and businesses.

Basically this construction sector event at Mansfield Town Football Club will provide a range of information and support.  It will help you to:

  • Identify future work
  • Improve your ability to win work
  • Get the employees you need and improve the skills of those you already have.

In summary, all this will support you to drive forward and grow your business.

The event is FREE* to attend and is delivered in partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).  CITB works on behalf of construction employers, with Nottingham City Council on the  JOINT INVESTMENT STRATEGY (JIS) project.  This project promotes growth in the construction sector through local “Drivers and Enablers”.  In fact, this has been developed as part of a national CITB programme.


  • Registration and refreshments
  • Welcome and introduction to the session – CITB
  • Joint Investment Strategy – Details of the funded support and training available through the project and achievements to date
  • Improving your procurement practices, winning new business and where to source opportunities – Silverlock
  • Case Study from Matthew Barney, Executive Director – Supply Chain and Procurement, North Midland Construction PLC – Group.  In the first place, one of the region’s largest construction and civil engineering companies.    With this in mind, NM Group will give an overview of what they expect from their supply chain.  In other words, “what good looks like”.  This will not only cover their expectations on customer service but also on innovation, performance, quality and Health & Safety.  In summary, this will focus on how to build and maintain excellent and mutually beneficial working relationships, providing hints and tips to help improve your ability win business.
  • D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) will be on hand to provide details of their EMPLOY Local and SKILLS Local support.  This offer will support staff development and provide support in identifying future employees
  • Close, networking, exhibitions and refreshments

*This event is free of charge to attend for all construction-related companies in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, employing fewer than 250 full time equivalent employees.

Please note: The content of this event aims to support the wider SME construction sector to develop and grow.  However, access to the funded training through the JIS is only available to those in scope/CITB registered companies in Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire
