Costa Coffee opened its doors in Sutton Town Centre in October.

The well-known high street café is located in the former Denman’s Head Hotel at Market Place.

Councillor Jim Aspinall, portfolio holder for regeneration in Ashfield, visited the shop. He said: “I was delighted to meet up with company and staff and formally welcome, on behalf of Ashfield District Council the shop to Sutton. I was also very pleased with the positive response from the customers I spoke to.

“The customers and the council appreciate the efforts the company have gone to, to maintain the fabric of the building, which carries many memories for many people in Sutton.”

He added: “We are looking to create a ‘cafe culture’ at the top end of the town and Costa Coffee fit perfectly into that objective. We consider the arrival of companies like Costa Coffee are an integral part of plans to regenerate the area. I would like to wish Costa Coffee every success with this venture and hope they can be the catalyst to attract other outlets to Sutton.”

Costa Coffee has 1,831 stores in the UK.
