The Big House: Keep your ideas safe – All about IP

29 November, 2018, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

In this workshop, Browne Jacobson’s specialist Intellectual Property (IP) advisors will cover top tips for protecting and exploiting your IP rights in creative products & services.

What’s on offer?

You spend lots of time and effort in creating ideas and developing creative concepts.  But how do you protect the fruits of your labour from being plagiarised by others?  And exactly how can you best exploit your creative output commercially?

In this workshop, Browne Jacobson’s specialist Intellectual Property (IP) advisors will cover top tips for protecting and exploiting your IP rights in creative products & services.

We will cover the following topics:

  • What is IP exactly and how does it affect you?
  • How should you go about protecting your IP?
  • How should you deal with IP in agreements / T&Cs?

The workshop will be interactive and will include a detailed Q&A session in order to ensure you come away with an understanding of how IP can be utilised in your specific business.

Who is it for?

A one-off workshop for Creative & Digital Entrepreneurs & Small Businesses based in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Expert speaker

Nick Smee is an Associate with Browne Jacobson.  He has acted on a series of high-profile trademark and patent disputes.  He also advises on complex IP transactions.  Moreover, he advises clients across different sectors and helps them make the most of their brands and technology.  He can provide strategic advice at various stages of the product lifecycle.  From providing training on how to protect early-stage technologies and designs, through to bringing a client’s rights to fruition in lucrative deals.  Nick’s work on brands covers initial advice on filing for protection and international registration strategy, through to enforcing rights in court.  This experience has enabled Nick to build strong working relationships with his clients.  And to better understand both their key drivers and the challenges they face.
