Transport and Logistics Forum – East Midlands Chamber

7 October, 2015, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

This forum aims to address specific issues in the sector around the movement of goods, people and services, also around capital investments in the regional infrastructure developments, improving links to ports and airports, the impact of new strategic rail freight interchanges and technologies used to reduce operating costs.

This particular forum will be held in partnership with Invest Ashfield & Mansfield (IAM)  and looks to expand on their campaign  around supporting the transport and logistics sector in their region.

Ashfield and Mansfield, Nottinghamshire is one of the UK’s best connected, most cost-effective locations for manufacturing and logistics businesses. Invest Ashfield and Mansfield (IAM) are committed to providing dedicated support to companies considering Ashfield and Mansfield as a business location, or establishing operations here. The event will bring together a number of speakers to discuss a range of topics providing delegates with useful information, contacts, detail of the opportunities in the region and will provide an update on the D2N2 LEP Sector Action Development Plan for Transport.

Provisional agenda items:

  • Welcome from the Invest in Ashfield and Mansfield team;
  • Vision West Nottinghamshire College – supporting skills in the area;
  • Taylors Transport International –a case study from a local company on how they have grown within the region and benefited from always being located in the district;
  • Midlands Connect- bringing together a cross LEP partnership to tackle transport constraints and develop the strongest possible case for strategic transport investment in the Midlands, which as the potential to unlock large economic benefits;

*The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport supports skills in the region, throughout the UK and internationally through its partnerships with academic institutions, private training providers, other interested organisations and through its own training programmes and bespoke in-company courses. Less formally, it offers events for members and non-members alike to see the latest developments in transport and logistics and to network with like minded individuals.
