Graduate scheme can give your business a major boost

October 25, 2013 3:24 pm

A successful graduate placement scheme, which brings together talented young people who have recently graduated from university and local employers, is looking for more recruits.

The Graduates into Enterprise Programme, run by Mansfield and Ashfield District Councils, links high calibre, recent university graduates or postgraduates with employers to undertake a fixed term placement (maximum six months) in order to work on a specific project related to the graduate’s skills and experience.

Over the last year 14 graduates have taken part in the programme. Eight are currently still on placement, five have been kept on by their employers and one used their experience to secure another job.  Ella O’Connor, Regeneration Theme Lead for Employment and Skills in the Ashfield and Mansfield Shared Regeneration Service, said: “The Graduates into Enterprise Programme is proving to be a real asset to local businesses who are seeing an improvement in their performance and ultimately the bottom line, as a result of the work these highly skilled young people are doing for them.”

Cllr Chris Baron, Leader of Ashfield District Council, said: “The whole aim of the scheme is to help our local business community to improve their competitiveness by harnessing local talent and ensuring we attract and retain high calibre employees in the Ashfield and Mansfield districts. From the testimonials received so far from local employers, I would urge our business leaders to take advantage of the funding available while we have it.”

Any businesses who feel they could benefit from this programme should contact the Graduates into Enterprise Team to discuss their requirements and the team will endeavour to recruit the right graduate with the right skills for the job.  The Graduates into Enterprise Programme is assisted through European Regional Development Funding.  Any businesses or graduates wanting more information on the programme, should contact the Ashfield and Mansfield Shared Regeneration Service based at Mansfield District Council on 01623 463165.
