The County Council will be joining a Government-led trade mission to China this autumn in a bid to secure investment and business for Nottinghamshire firms.

The Midlands Engine trade mission will be headed by a senior Government Minister and include more than 50 business representatives, local government and education leaders from across the region.

Local authorities from the Midlands, including Wolverhampton, Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Birmingham, Leicester and Solihull will be sending representatives as part of the delegation.

The overarching aim of the mission will be to showcase the Midlands as a favoured investment destination, including the development of an official partnership between the Midlands Engine and East China, focused on trade and investment between the two regions.

We already have a strong contingent from Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, with 16 businesses from the area already expressing an interest in joining the mission.

Whilst in China, Council representatives will be exploring specific opportunities for Nottinghamshire, including high-level talks with civic leaders, businesses and business organisations, focusing on promoting the county as a well-connected, cost competitive location for trade and investment.

To ensure that Nottinghamshire businesses have a voice, we would like to hear from any firms with existing links to China or with an interest in trading in China.

To that end, we will be hosting a China Investment Summit on 27 September, which will be used to inform the Trade Mission. The event will run from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm at Nottinghamshire County Council, County Hall.

To book a place or alternatively to find out about the Midlands Trade Mission please contact Mandy Ramm via email or telephone 0115 977 2685.
