Leading lights from the arts to feature at Create Expo

July 10, 2017 11:45 am

Creative gurus and arts industry experts will showcase the sector’s latest technology at an annual expo on Thursday 20 July.  Hosted by Vision West Nottinghamshire College, Create Expo is the brainchild of the school of creative industries and digital technologies.  The event offers the chance to hear the latest news from the industry, as well as see advancements in illustration, concept art, games design, TV production and virtual reality.

Who should attend?

It’s open to anyone with an interest in the sector, or those wishing to pursue a career in the arts.  Guests will be also able to speak to current students.  This provides the opportunity to talk to them about the skills they’ve learnt on the programmes at the college.

Guest speakers

The star line-up of guest speakers and presenters include Bart Yates, the executive producer of Blinkink.  In fact, Blinklink is one of the UK’s top animation companies.  Bart, who is based in London, will be informing the audience about the production of commercials and music videos.  Not only that, but also  how they blend innovative new technologies with classical cinematic craft.

Furthermore, Freelance concept artist Jake Gumbleton will talk about his 15 years’ experience as a professional artist and his work.  His projects have included Star Wars, James Bond and Hunger Games.

Local company Linney Group will also feature at the expo.  Film producer and cameraman, David Clancy, will speak about the film area of the business.  In particular, how client briefs are turned into state-of-the-art films to market a product.

Many more professionals from the industry will be giving demonstrations and holding design-related talks at the event, running from 9.30am.  Find out more.

Great opportunity

Interactive media tutor, Anthony Hall, has organised the event.  Anthony said: “We’re delighted to hold our third Create Expo at the college.  Moreover, we welcome the very best of the sector’s designers and artists showcasing the latest from the industry.

“It’s a real coup to have all these experts under one roof.  They will share their knowledge, expertise and hints and tips with those interested in careers in the arts industry.”

A day ticket gives access to the main speakers plus the opportunity to book on to other events happening throughout the day.  Tickets cost £5 and this includes entry to all the presentations as well as the college’s BA students’ exhibition.  Here guests can see examples of the students’ university-level work. There will be a business lunch and refreshments throughout the day.  Find out more.
