CGI of Town View - a housing development in Mansfield

Three new housing developments in Mansfield are underway.  With an eye on how our local population is changing, these new housing developments are providing modern accommodation ideally suited for today’s living requirements.

Indeed two of these sites (Town View and Weavers View) are being developed on brownfield sites.  At the same time the new Berry Hill development will not only provide much-needed high quality housing but also commercial and industrial space.  This population growth will help to support jobs growth, skills improvement and other new opportunities in Ashfield and Mansfield.

Town View

Situated on the site of the former General Hospital in Mansfield, this new development will provide homes for older residents.  Indeed, Town View is a new and impressive £8.54m housing scheme of 54 homes for people aged 55 and over.  Previously the site was derelict for about 20 years before Mansfield District Council bought it to redevelop.  As a result, a long-vacant site has been brought back into productive use.

It is a mixed scheme with bungalows, including shared ownership options, and apartments.  These will all be positioned around a village green setting, providing a pleasant and relaxing environment for residents.  In addition, it will provide housing for all types of lifestyles – from active older people to those with support and extra care needs.  Apart from providing housing, the project will also help local people by organising employment and training opportunities.  Find out more here.

Weavers View

Work is also well underway to develop 151 modern family homes at Weavers View, the development at Pleasley Hill in Mansfield.  Creating a new gateway into the district, this multi-million pound redevelopment helps to transform the local landscape.  Moreover, this modern residential development breathes new life into the area where 160 former colliery workers’ homes were demolished.

Persimmon Homes is developing the site with work beginning in June 2015.  These homes will be offered for sale, through home ownership schemes and as social rented housing.  So far, 67 properties have been completed and the whole development is expected to be built by 2019.  Find out more here.

Berry Hill

Berry Hill is a mixed-use development and urban extension on the southern side of Mansfield.  It is expected to build 1,700 new homes and create up to 4,000 jobs.  There are also plans for other facilities over the impressive 480 acres that this new development spans.

Indeed, Berry Hill Mansfield has recently been awarded £8.5m in funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).  Find out more here.  This ambitious scheme will not only provide much-needed homes for west Nottinghamshire, it will also create jobs and business opportunities.  The development includes a new innovation park, varied employment land opportunities as well as a retail and leisure offering.
