Invest Ashfield & Mansfield - The area for growth

Time flies by.  We are already in the second half of 2018 and busily hurtling towards 2019.  Let’s take a breath.  Even if you’re not a fan of mindfulness, sometimes it’s worth taking a step back.  And taking stock.  Take a bit of time out and discover what you really shouldn’t miss in the next few months.

The Tour of Britain

Did you know that Ashfield and Mansfield will again host a stage of this prestigious bicycle race?  What’s more, this time the stage will be even more high profile with it finishing in Mansfield.  And it will probably attract even more interest as the date falls on the weekend: Saturday 8 September.

Starting their day in West Bridgford and progressing through the county, this year the racers will travel via Hucknall town centre, through Selston and out through Annesley.  From there, the peleton will enter Mansfield and skirt round Skegby before returning to Mansfield and hosting the final sprint finish just by the Civic Centre.  Find out more about Nottinghamshire’s routeFind out more about the Tour of Britain in Ashfield.

Since the stage will end in Mansfield, there are a number of opportunities to get involved.  And roads that will be closed.  Find out more about the Tour of Britain in Mansfield.  Of course, this is a great opportunity to showcase our area to a wide audience.  In fact, there will be an end of Summer Festival just by the finish line.  Of course, there will be various opportunities throughout the route to showcase your business.

Furthermore, the race itself coincides nicely with a new tourism website which has just been launched.  Find out more.  If you would like to showcase your business on the website, simply follow the links.

Meet the Mayor and Leader

The 2020 events offering opportunities to meet the Mayor of Mansfield and the Leader of Ashfield continue to be popular.  Regularly attracting a number of key businesses, these sessions provide a great opportunity to raise issues.  September’s Meet the Mayor at Mansfield District Council will take place on Monday 10 September at 8:30am.  Meanwhile, the Meet the Leader session at Ashfield District Council will be held on Wednesday 12 September at 8am.  Find out more about both these events and others on our events calendar.

The C word…

Is it too early to talk about Christmas?  Whether you are already avidly planning your Christmas works do or not giving it a second thought until Bonfire Night, it will be with us sooner than you think.  Indeed the Christmas lights events always attract big audiences in each of the town centres.

If you would like to know more about the sponsorship packages available in Ashfield, please contact Carol Hallam on 01623 457410.  There are opportunities in Sutton, Kirkby and Hucknall.  Alternatively, Mansfield always runs a spectacular Christmas lights switch-on events.  Arrangements are still being finalised but for regular updates, check out the Switch on webpage.
