Invest Ashfield & Mansfield - The area for growth

In Ashfield and Mansfield we are passionate both about learning new skills and sharing that knowledge more widely.  In order to do this, we regularly refer businesses to our events calendar, which we keep populated with events in and around the local area.  These aren’t just our events but also include others targeted specifically at businesses.

June events

June, so far, has proved to be a busy month, with regular networking opportunities and an event about grants organised by Mansfield and Ashfield 2020.  Week commencing 19 June heralds the start of EU Sustainable Energy Week.  And to tie in with this, the University of Nottingham is putting on a programme of events during the week.  A full list of these is shown below:

Furthermore, an event organised by the DIT on exporting is scheduled for 20 June.  Also, on the same day, there is a major conference organised by the Chamber.  In fact, the Employment and Skills Summit 2017 is focused on practical ways businesses and the education sector can work more effectively together.  In addition, towards the end of the month, on 28 June, there is the Chamber’s Construction and Property Forum.  This is a regular forum for businesses involved in the construction and property sector.  Fundamentally it discusses best practice, industry developments and sustainability in construction and skills.

July events

Into July, there are a number of interesting business events, each providing a useful learning opportunity.  Here’s a short summary:

  • Employing Generation Z  – 10 July.   Giving employers a unique insight into the challenges and opportunities presented by employing the next generation of ‘tech-natives’.
  • Supporting local businesses to recruit, thrive and grow – 11 July.  Find out more about developing your workforce’s skills, finding new talent, and funding support to help your business grow.
  • Customer experience – 12 July.  Delivered by Center Parcs, this breakfast event organised through Nottingham Trent University is subtitled Delighting your customers every time.
  • Building a more entrepreneurial firm – 18 July.  Part of a regular breakfast event programme organised through the Ingenuity team at the University of Nottingham.
  • Video marketing – 19 July.  Organised through the EBusiness Club.  Not only will this event show you how powerful video marketing can be, it will also provide a number of practical tips.
  • Virtual reality – 19 July.  A full day masterclass, this is event is organised through Nottingham Trent University and hosted by Vision West Nottinghamshire College in their new university centre.

Recruit, thrive and grow

Of particular note is our own event programmed for 11 July, organised in partnership with D2N2 Growth Hub.  In brief, this event offers advice, information and guidance on the latest available funding and support for recruitment and workforce development.  What’s more, since it’s funded through European funding, attendance at the event is completely free.  So, all it will cost you is a bit of your time.  And you could learn a great deal to help your business.  Find out more.

Whilst this represents a snapshot of what has been listed on our events calendar to date, we are constantly adding new events so remember to check back regularly.  We also post onto various social media platforms about upcoming events, so that’s another way you can keep up-to-date.  We use Facebook, GooglePlus, LinkedIn and Twitter, it would be great to see you there.
