Improve your Bottom Line by Recruiting an Apprentice

May 16, 2014 2:07 pm

Apprenticeships deliver real returns to your bottom line, helping to improve productivity and allowing you to become more competitive.  Training can also be more cost effective than hiring skilled staff, meaning lower overall training and recruitment costs.

With rising tuition fees, more and more students are choosing to undertake vocational training as an alternative to university.  Apprentices can fill your skills gaps, help you to secure a supply of highly skilled staff and can be trained to exactly match your own business needs. Apprentices bring new ideas and innovation to the business. They tend to be eager, motivated, flexible and loyal to the company that invested in them and so stay with an organisation, lowering staff turnover and thereby helping to reduce your recruitment costs.

Ashfield & Mansfield District Councils are investing in the future of our local businesses by providing the Ashfield and Mansfield Apprenticeship Grant for Employers to help your business recruit an apprentice.  If your business is based in Ashfield or Mansfield and you have less than 250 employees then you could be eligible for a grant of up to £1,500.

To be eligible for the grant your business needs to fulfil all the following criteria:

  • Qualify under the National Apprenticeship Services AGE
  • Be located in the Ashfield or Mansfield District
  • Not have recruited an apprentice in the previous 12 months
  • Employ less than 250 staff

The apprenticeship opportunity must be a newly created position and the apprentice needs to be between 19 and 24 and live in either Ashfield or Mansfield one of the districts.  View more information on our online flyer or to discuss in more detail, email us or contact us by telephone on 01623 463165.
